Meet Dr. Van Gordon
With a focus on helping patients breathe, sleep, and live better, Dr. Van Gordon brings experience, empathy, and a passion for meaningful, lasting care to every patient he serves.
Dr. Van Gordon is an Oregon native. He attended Oregon State University, and graduated with Clinical Honors from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry in 2001.
He went on to private practice in Wilsonville from 2001 thru 2025. Dr. Van Gordon is one of 4 dentists in his family, his father Larry and brothers Michael and Greg.
Dr. Van Gordon was certified to make Sleep Apnea appliances in 2011, when he needed one for himself, and hoped to avoid a CPAP machine. It worked so well that he started incorporating sleep appliances inside of his dental practice. For more than a decade, Dr Van Gordon has seen how well this appliance can work for others, and change their lives to get back to normal, refreshed sleep, and a return to your normal lifestyle.
After 24 years, Dr. Van Gordon wanted to slow his life down, and sold his Wilsonville practice in January of 2025 to focus on building a sleep apnea clinic in Tualatin. Over the last 5 years in his dental practice, he was seeing daily that more and more people are struggling with sleep, and cannot stay awake for meetings, driving, movies, etc.
Dr. Van Gordon is still passionate about dentistry, and continues to work 2 days a week at his office in St Helens, Oregon with his business partner Dr. Emily Monroe at Van Gordon Monroe Dentistry. This has allowed him to have the best of both worlds and pursue his passion in sleep medicine, while continuing to care for his dental patients.
Dr. Van Gordon has earned the Qualified Dentist Designation with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) and is a longtime member of the Oregon Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, and AADSM. He is actively involved in professional development and education, formerly serving as Spear Faculty Club and a CEREC Doctors Mentor, where he helped fellow clinicians advance their skills in innovative digital dentistry.
Recognized for excellence in his field, Dr. Van Gordon has been named a Portland Monthly Magazine Top Dentist every year since 2011, a testament to his dedication to clinical quality and patient trust.

Life-Changing Care
Dr. Vangordon was recommended to me by my sleep medicine doctor, Dr. Scott Fromherz, for a mandibular advancement splint. Dr. Vangordon did a wonderful job and has all the latest laser-assisted impression equipment that resulted in having the most comfortable oral sleep appliance that I have ever had, and it totally resolved my sleep disorder in conjunction with the Inspire device. The staff is professional and Dr.
Vangordon has expertise in dental treatment for obstructive sleep apnea that is second to none. I highly recommend anyone that suffers from poor sleep, snoring, TMJ, clenching or grinding teeth at night, or other dental or sleep issues to schedule an appointment with Dr. Vangordon for an evaluation to see if they could be a candidate for an oral appliance. Dr.
Vangordon knows what he is doing and made every step easy for me, including billing my medical insurance for the cost of the
appliance.
Van Gordon had their work cut out for them when I started as a new patient. Not only was I terrified of dentists and automatically skeptical of anything they had to say to me, but my mouth was also horrific. I had cavities, was in need of crowns and the overall inflammation was a 12 on a 10 point scale. Dr Van Gordon never recommended anything to me that I didn't need. He never suggested anything purely for cosmetic purposes. We got the crown and cavity situation under control and then his hygienists really started working with me on the cause of the inflammation. I was so frustrated because my home care routine was very thorough and consistent. We discovered the magical combination of care that finally stopped further inflammation and gum disease and I can now proudly say my cleanings are pain-free! I will never go anywhere else. Dr Van Gordon is my dental clinic for life!
Dr. VanGordon and his team are the best! They are kind, very professional, and experts in their field. Thank you!

Expert Care for Sleep Issues
Most people are unaware that there is an option for an oral appliance to wear with your CPAP or BiPAP. It is the CustomTAP PAP. This hybrid therapy allows you to wake up with no strap marks on your face, and enables your sleep physician to decrease your pressure on your machine to a more tolerable level. This appliance stabilizes your jaw, and opens your airway to allow lower levels of air pressure through nasal pillows.
We focus on CPAP alternatives for treating sleep apnea effectively.
